Not only is it tacky as all get-out but it is comfortable and plush enough while still being plenty firmtheres no need for a bump in this foam because you can settle in to one spot and stay there with minimal effort. the fact that the power can be wound a mile high is amazing; additionally the light feel allows the rider to push hard and thanks to improvements with the suspension we felt more at home on this KTM than we have previously during initial tests of other orange units. Just like any other KTM this one will benefit from some quality setup time on each track we ride and well definitely have a more expanded view of what the machine is capable of when we go to complete the full first test write-up for the upcoming June issue of Dirt Rider. We should take a moment to stress that the KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition is in stock form an incredibly fun bike to ride. Additional the KTM (and the Husqvarna) were the two heaviest bikes in the shootout and our novice/ beginner testers had a tough time using the top-end-heavy power. Now the bike is more reminiscent of the Yamaha YZ250F in terms of handlebar height. We loved the over-rev of the bike but struggled to coax much plushness or predictability out of the suspension which required a lot of tuning to feel decent. Sitting on the bike two things are immediately apparent: first the gripper Selle Dalla Valle seat is amazing. Is the bike perfect No but it is darn good and were fairly certain that it can be made even better. Fortunately the Factory Edition is much different than the standard version and our opinions on the track were a lot more favorable. the second thing that we noticed right away was that the cockpit does indeed feel more compact mainly due to the handlebar being 10mm lower. Most testers liked this feel although riders who typically like a taller bar feel stated that it took them a few laps to adjust to this. the electric starter on the 250 SX-F Factory Edition is as strong as it needs to be but you cant just hold down the starter and expect it to light; lithium ion batteries sometimes like a warm-up push of the button 3-5 seconds before you begin to start the bike and even then the starter button is more receptive to quick stabs than just mashing it down...
